Sewards Coach Trips

We offer a range of day trips throughout the year which are arranged by ourselves, we hope to offer a friendly and relaxed service to our valued customers, some of whom have been travelling with us for many years.

We offer pick ups in Dalwood, Kilmington, Gamberlake, Axminster Square, Millwey, Allsaints, Tytherleigh, Tatworth, Boden Street Chard and a feeder bus service from the Colyton and Seaton areas.

The only City in Cornwall, Truro is an interesting place to visit with its Gothic inspired Cathedral and many of its buildings hailing from Georgian, Regency and Victorian times. There is a covered market at Lemon quay as well as the larger high street stores there are many independent shops and businesses

If you haven’t visited Bristol in a while we think you will be pleasantly surprised as well as offering a large city shopping centre there is also the opportunity to explore indoor and outdoor markets and a cultural hub around the attractive river setting, the M shed is free to enter and offers an interactive insight into the City’s interesting history. There is also the Bristol Aquarium, Brunel’s SS Great Britain and We the Curious – Bristol’s Science Museum.

The beautiful historic South Devon town of Dartmouth is located on the mouth of the river Dart surrounded by beautiful countryside, we will leave Dartmouth after lunch and head to the pretty fishing town of Brixham where we will spend the rest of the afternoon taking in the sights of this scenic harbour nestled in the rugged cliffs on the southern end of the English Riviera.

We will be visiting an old favourite of ours the Lobster pot at Portland Bill, with wonderful views and good quality beverages situated next to the famous Portland Bill Lighthouse. We will then be travelling to Swanage via the Sandbanks ferry, Swanage is situated on the east coast of the Isle of Purbeck, a peninsular that borders the English Channel with award winning sandy beaches and beautiful countryside, and there are many places to find some good food and interesting attractions.

The White Horse Inn is a 16th century coaching inn nestled on the edge of the River Exe and the heart of the Exmoor national park.

With ponies and wild red deer roaming free and some breath taking views, Exmoor is a wonderful place to visit with its heather topped moorland, woodland and rugged landscape. Dunster is a beautiful medieval village with a traditional packhorse bridge, dovecote, yarn market, thatched buildings and its own castle which is owned by the National trust and you can visit if you wish. During your time in Dunster there is much to entertain different interests from visiting the shops and landmarks in the town which include the Exmoor National Park Centre, Dunster museum and doll collection, the Castle, the wonderful coast at Dunster beach and village walks.

Abbotsbury Swannery is the only place in the world where you are able to walk through the heart of a colony of nesting Mute Swans. A visit to this beautiful place is considered to be one of the best things to do in Dorset.

The best time to visit the Swannery to see the cygnets hatching is during May to the end of June so hopefully our trip will be at the best time to see some babies, there are generally 150 nesting pairs and over 600 swans in the colony.

Feeding time is at 12 noon and 4pm and children and adults are encouraged to take part in this.

Described in the Guardian as “Britain’s most booming seaside town, undergoing a style revival with Michelin starred restaurants and swanky yachts”!  With its iconic palm trees, spectacular coastline and outstanding natural beauty, Torquay is a destination worth visiting. As well as beautiful beaches and wonderful restaurants there are some excellent shops and art galleries around the harbour area, from gift shops to well-known branded stores and indoor shopping centres, all within close proximity of the seafront and marina.

One of the longest naturally occurring beaches in the UK and located on the Bristol channel coast, Western has had a long association with the typical, traditional seaside day out with many opportunities for ice cream, tea and cake or fish and chips whilst taking a stroll along the level Victorian inspired promenade and observing the wealth of activity including various sand/water sports, traditional donkey rides and the grand pier. The town also has much to offer for most different tastes and there is also a large shopping centre with big name brands easily accessible from the sea front.

Boasting the third deepest natural harbour in the world and flanked by two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the stunning coastline around Falmouth provides a beautiful setting for this interesting Cornish town. Visit one of Falmouth’s four glorious beaches, perhaps take a stroll through the newly restored and replanted Gyllyngdune gardens where nearby you will find an interesting town offering a variety of shops, restaurants and art galleries, historic buildings of interest include Pendennis Castle built by King Henry VIII and the Maritime museum.

We will be stopping at Bickleigh mill where you can choose from a large range of lunches on offer including Panini’s and sandwiches with locally sourced meats and cheeses as well as seasonal soups and salads.

At 1pm we will head to the canal to board the ‘Tivertonian’ a beautifully presented, family run, traditional horse drawn barge with a well-stocked bar and toilets on board.  We will embark on a 2.5 hour return trip along the canal to enjoy the quiet of the area. Think back to a time before steam and modern technology this is an experience to remember where you can relax and appreciate the tranquil beauty of the countryside around you, if you love boats, horses, wildlife and water this is the trip for you!

The Capital city of Wales, Cardiff has much to offer, you could enjoy watching the waterfront activity at Cardiff bay or shop and dine in the modern Mermaid quay development or visit the town centre to explore the interesting and unique shops, restaurants and buildings.

Cardiff castle is an interesting place to visit where you can listen to an audio tour to find out about the history as you explore the Castle and grounds.

If you enjoy taking a walk down memory lane then Oakham treasures is the place to visit, with a huge collection of memorabilia from the last century and earlier there is bound to be something to spark a memory from the past. Household objects, fashions, engines, farm machinery… enough to entertain, fascinate and start conversations for hours on end all under one roof. There is also a good Café offering lunches, cakes, a variety of drinks and other beverages.

If Shopping is more your thing we will also give you an option to go to the Mall at Cribb’s Causeway instead, The Mall is a large undercover out of town shopping centre offering over 150 stores including many big name brands and a variety of restaurants and cafes.

With a seasonal atmosphere and handpicked, high quality exhibitors within a beautiful Cathedral setting this visit is bound to bring some Christmas cheer and of course an opportunity to purchase some unique Christmas gifts.

Booking and Payment

To book a seat on a trip please phone/email (please await confirmation) or if you are local pop into our office.
If you wish to be picked up at a different place than the pick-ups mentioned please contact us, as long as it is on our route or close by, it shouldn’t be a problem.
We would appreciate pre-payment for 2 weeks in advance if possible in cash or cheque made out to Sewards Coaches. On the back of the cheque please put SCT – your name and the date/destination of the trip you wish to pay for. Please post cheques to:

You can also pay by bank transfer, our bank details can be given to our customers on request. The payment reference should be SCT – your name and the date of the trip, thanks.

Pick up points

We currently pick up passengers in Dalwood, Kilmington, Axminster – (Gamberlake, the Square and Millwey), Allsaints, Tytherleigh, Tatworth and Boden Street in Chard.

Our feeder mini bus also picks up in Shute, Whitford, Colyton, Colyford & Seaton and Kilmington. The feeder bus joins the main coach in Axminster – please see our pick up point timetable for timings.

Other pickups will be considered upon request.
